Aug. 30 7:19 PM PT8:19 PM MT9:19 PM CT10:19 PM ET22:19 ET2:19 GMT10:19 7:19 PM MST9:19 PM EST9:49 PM VEN6:19 UAE (+1)9:19 PM CT-Mark Leiter Jr. fell to 2-4, allowing three runs on nine hits and one walk in 6.2 innings, as the Philadelphia Phillies lost to the Atlanta Braves 5-2 on Wednesday. Analysis: Though unable to duplicate his gem from a week ago, in which he held the Marlins to one hit over seven shutout innings, Leiter was at least able to give the Phillies some length in this one. The 26-year-old has pitched well enough to merit a few more starts as Philadelphia wraps up a difficult season.

Analysis: The rookie right-hander's first start had been used in long relief since being recalled from the minors July 30, and it seems likely he will be soon be headed back to the bullpen.

Leiter Jr. struck out six, ending the game with a 4.20 ERA and 1.27 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Leiter entered his second major league start having allowed only two home runs in 25 innings pitched, but surrendered three long balls in this one. Jerad Eickhoff is expected to come off the DL next week, so Leiter's next appearance could be out of the bullpen or in the minors.
June 24 9:31 AM PT10:31 AM MT11:31 AM CT12:31 PM ET12:31 ET16:31 GMT0:31 9:31 AM MST11:31 AM EST12:01 PM VEN20:31 UAE11:31 AM CT-Mark Leiter Jr. improved to 1-0, allowing three hits and one walk over 6.0 scoreless innings, as the Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-1 on Friday. Leiter Jr. struck out five, ending the game with a 3.60 ERA and 1.16 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: The son of Mark Leiter and the nephew of Al Leiter -- both former major league pitchers -- the 26-year-old Leiter wasn't overpowering, with a fastball that topped out in the low 90s, but he constantly forced the Diamondbacks to chase cut fastballs, change-ups and a dominating split-finger fastball down in the strike zone. It probably made fans wonder why he labored with six minor league teams before finally reaching the majors at age 26.
