Flames sign D Wotherspoon

(TSX / STATS) -- The Calgary Flames signed defenseman Tyler Wotherspoon to a one-year, two-way contract, the team announced Tuesday.

Wotherspoon failed to record a point in four games with the Flames last season. The 24-year-old British Columbia native enjoyed a productive campaign with the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League, collecting a career-high six goals and 12 assists in 56 games.

Wotherspoon has notched five assists and four penalty minutes in 30 career games with the Flames since being selected by Calgary in the second round of the 2011 draft.
